Job description :

Full-Time, Permanent

On Site Bristol has been at the forefront of local construction apprenticeship training for 27-years and following promotion we have a vacancy and the possible expansion of our team this summer. The On Site Bristol team work closely with other Council teams, schools, colleges and independent training providers, to deliver high quality apprenticeships to 400 apprentices each year.

Our Training Officers support construction employers of all sizes and help their apprentices to gain higher level occupational skills and confidence to develop long-term sustainable careers. In addition, we have a dedicated Training Officer who manages our outreach programme that helps people through the process of applying for and gaining apprenticeship employment opportunities. This role acts as primary liaison with schools, making sure our team is providing excellent career planning information and guidance.

Your role will be determined by your knowledge, skills, strengths, and experiences of life and work. You will use this to get the best out of apprentices, including school leavers, as they make a start in their careers. For this reason, we welcome applications from anyone who has a passion to help people.

Relationship building is key and includes working with a range of partners from Further Education settings. You will start at the very beginning – recruiting and selecting school leavers, then placing them with suitable employers and settling them into their college courses. Throughout their apprenticeships, you will see each young person regularly, both at work and at college. You will need to be able to recognise good training and learning, help the employer and apprentice plan and monitor progress, and you will need to be able to guide and advise on health and safety at work.

Experience of the construction industry is useful, but not essential, together with an understanding of apprenticeships and/or experience of recruitment. You will have the ability to communicate effectively and use your creativity and initiative to meet deadlines. It is also important that you have an understanding of and commitment to, equal opportunities, particularly with reference to employment in the construction industry.

Please note these positions are subject to Enhanced DBS Clearance.
