F P Hurley have over 75 years of experience delivering mechanical and electrical building services to the construction industry. Our areas of expertise include education, healthcare, industrial, commercial, defence and heritage. F P Hurley provides a complete package to clients, working from project conception right through to handover and extended aftercare. We specialise in the design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning, as well as the aftercare of mechanical and electrical services.

We are offering work experience placements to candidates who are interested in working within the construction industry. You will be working alongside our team of skilled heating and ventilation pipefitters. You will be working at the University of West of England in Bristol on a project named District Heating Network. You will be placed with a skilled pipefitter and will learn about the process of installing commercial pipework and appliances in commercial properties. You will be placed with a suitably experienced member of the team who will have well developed mentoring skills to ensure you get the most out of your work experience.
You will gain understanding and experience into how work is planned and delivered, including:
Working Safely

Applying relevant safety legislation, codes of practice and safe working practices to self and others in building services engineering working environments.
Planning, Preparing and Working Sustainably

Planning, organising and undertaking the installation of industrial and commercial system components in ways which use resources effectively to complete allocated work tasks, effectively, safely and with consideration to environmental impact using industry recognised practices.

Preparing work areas in new and existing sites to undertake allocated component installation work tasks ensuring: safe access and egress for self and others is maintained; components, tools and equipment are stored and positioned safely and to allow efficient workflow; mechanical supply services and electrical tool supply connections are correctly identified; and the need for other trades support is identified and arranged.
Installing Components

Apply pipework fabrication, installation and jointing techniques for industrial and commercial system components to industry recognised standards.

We have opportunities for both paid and unpaid positions.

Ideally, we would like to offer a combined placement for both unpaid and paid.

Minimum duration would be 2 weeks with the possibility to extend.
