Grounds & Playground Assistant
Part Time, Permanent, 31 hours per week (weekend working role) . Closing date 22nd November 2023.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join Bristol City Council Parks Department as a Grounds and Playground Assistant at Hengrove Play Park.
Hengrove Play Park is one of Bristol’s Destination Parks located in South Bristol.
You will part of a small team which is committed to delivering high quality customer and maintenance standards across the play park.
Hengrove Play Park is a unique play park in the south of Bristol with a large play dome and skate park which is staffed and open to the public throughout the week.
This is a unique role within the organisation which will ensure that the Hengrove Play Park is kept clean, tidy and well maintained and helping to ensure the park users enjoy their visit.
This is a weekend working role Friday to Monday. It is also worked on annualised hours working either 8.5, 7.5 or 6.5 hours a day depending on the time of year and reflecting the opening hours of the play park.
You will be provided with all uniform and safety equipment required for the role.
What will I be doing?
As a Grounds Person/Playground Assistant you will be working outdoors at Hengrove ensuring that the site is tidy ready for the day ahead.
You will assist with repairs as required.
You will help look after the maintenance and facilities on the site ensuring the park provides a nice and pleasant place to visit.
You will have a highly important and visual role in making sure the park is welcoming and attractive.
You will ensure that the park is cleared of litter and that bins are regularly emptied and maintained, and the toilets regularly cleaned and serviced.
You will be part of a team working on horticultural tasks such as grass cutting, weeding and shrub pruning. You will ensure parks facilities are clean and safe for visitors to use and check for issues that may impact on park users.
What do I need to have?
You will have a flexible approach to work, be required to work weekends and you will need to be able to meet the physical demands of the role. You will have a strong customer focus and be prepared to work both in a small team and on your own at different times.
Please note that this role is subject to a Basic DBS Check.
