Hours:               37 hours per week

Salary:               Hay 4 (£40,876 – £43,857 pa)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Avon Fire and Rescue Service as a Corporate Assurance and Planning Manager within our Corporate Services Department over an interim period to offer maternity cover.  This is until 05 December 2022 however there may be the possibility that this is extended.

The Corporate Assurance and Planning Manager will be responsible for the operational management of an effective and efficient Corporate Assurance and Planning Team.

This senior leadership role is responsible for the operational management of an effective and efficient Corporate Assurance and Planning Team. The successful post holder will also assist the Head of Corporate Assurance Planning and Continuous Improvement (CAP&CI) to provide strategic and tactical leadership to staff of a high performing, effective and modern CAP&CI function.

This role will also provide professional support and advice to the Service Leadership Board (SLB), Service Leadership Team (SLT), Director of Corporate Services and Deputy Director of Corporate Services to enable them to fulfil their responsibilities under the relevant legislation, and statutory requirements as set out in the Home Office National Framework for Fire and Rescue Services.

If successful, you will directly influence, drive forward and modernise corporate assurance and planning activity, through the provision of strategic advice, high quality reports, analysis and information to the SLB, the SLT, the Fire Authority (FA) and FA Committees.

In order to be considered for this role, you must have appropriate and relevant qualifications: Post Graduate qualification in management or ILM Level 5; Practitioner Certificate in Data Protection; and accreditation in a recognised project management methodology.

A comprehensive understanding of the practical application of the Data Protection Act, and the Freedom of Information Act is required for this post.

You must also have excellent oral and written communication skills and inter-personal skills with staff at all levels both inside and outside the Service, with the ability to influence and guide managers and other members of staff.
