VOLUNTEER IT YOURSELF – VIY

From: Clive Rawson <clive@teamviy.com>
Sent via Ways2Work

Good afternoon

Volunteer It Yourself (VIY) is a Community Interest Company which combines volunteering and DIY by challenging young people, interested to learn trade, and building skills, on the job, by committing to fix youth clubs and community centre buildings in need of repair or improvement.

We have an exciting opportunity for young people to work on a refurbishment project starting on 30 May 2022 and lasting for approx. 4 weeks at The Old Redcliffians RFC, Bristol BS4 5LU

We particularly focus on offering those who are NEET (or at risk of being NEET) and are aged 14-24 and we are looking for young people to volunteer on-site for projects starting in your area. All the training and qualifications are free. The young people are mentored by skilled tradespeople who work alongside them to complete projects whilst learning skills such as Carpentry, Painting and Health & Safety (along with the soft skills that come with being on a site).

The young people could potentially gain an accredited Entry Level 3 City & Guilds qualification depending on the specific project undertaken and the skills learnt when they are on site. Ideally the young people would need to spend 2 days on site to gain the accreditation and we are looking for groups of 4 to 5 people a week to attend.

Our mentors and assessors are fully DBS checked and these can be provided upon request.

Here is a link to our website where you can see first-hand the various projects and young people who have benefited from our programmes.

If this sounds like it might be of interest to the young people you work with, please contact:

Graham Blackwood, VIY Project Manager on M: 07817 33 11 92 / Graham

Many thanks and best wishes
