Invite to Widening Participation Focus Group
The newly formed Bristol, North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG) Integrated Care System (ICS) and partners are looking to engage with local organisations who support local residents into employment. The ICS are interested in how they can support residents into careers within Health and Social Care. This is for two reasons, firstly health and social care has real staffing needs and would like to recruit from local communities and secondly, Health and Social Care organisations would like to work within local communities to address social and health inequalities. One way of achieving this outcome is to work with local organisations to provide skills training and employment opportunities to residents.
As part of a organised approach to widening participation, that will see the development of a structured approach to supporting local organisations who work with local residents to develop skills and progress them into employment, we will be delivering a focus group on Tuesday 6th September. The aim of the workshop is to “Understand the asks of employers from local organisations who support local residents into employment by providing opportunities and skills development”. The session will look at the following areas:
- What are the biggest hurdles or barriers faced by the local residents of the communities you work in when applying for new roles, particularly in Health and Social Care?
- What opportunities and support could Health and Social Care providers offer that would be of greatest benefit to organisations?
- How should Health and Social Care providers offer these opportunities to organisations?
After the focus group has taken place, local Health and Social Care organisations will work together to develop a menu of offers for local organisations and local residents to access. It would be amazing to have as many organisations join us for the focus group session as possible so that partners can develop a varied and inclusive offer for local organisations.
