Women’s Work Lab – BANES

My name is Paige and I am the new BANES Programme Manager at The Women’s Work Lab. Up to now you may have been liaising with Rachel Mostyn our Co-Founder but I am delighted to say I will now be the main point of contact for future mums on the programme, right from recruitment through to graduation. Contact me at paige@womensworklab.co.uk.

In terms of my background I have worked in skills and employment for many years, am also founder of ‘Mama’s Bristol CIC’, a highly successful peer support network for parents across the south west and have lived experience of facing adverse barriers myself. I am very passionate about providing opportunities for people and communities to develop.

I wanted to let you know that the Women’s Work Lab is opening applications for the May 2022 Bath programme this week, supporting unemployed mums receiving benefits to become work ready. As you know we supported 45 women in Bath in 2021 and are thrilled to be offering more opportunities this year.

We as a social enterprise would truly appreciate any support, guidance, connections and local knowledge to continue to flourish and be an active part of the community in BANES.

We have recently been featured in some publicity with BBC, you can find the article here:

Our bespoke classroom training and work placements focus on building confidence, ambition and employability skills. We specialise in unlocking potential and laying the foundations for a brighter future.

Outcomes for participants include new careers, positive role modelling for their families and communities and the creation of a vital support network.

Applications are currently open and we would love to hear from any women who you are connected with that you think would be a good fit. We are keen to reach out to as many community groups as possible to hear from women who may be interested in taking part. Typically we work with mums who have experienced barriers to work such as lone parenting, domestic abuse, poor mental health or children with additional needs.

There is plenty of information on our website. We will be following a shortlisting process for all applications which will then be followed up with an informal interview before formally offering places on the programme.
